Marc Glass
Marc Glass is a Principal at Downstream Strategies with more than two decades of experience in environmental consulting and management. Marc brings a unique set of skills and experience to the table.
Marc is a Licensed Remediation Specialist (LRS) who manages Downstream Strategies’ Environmental Monitoring and Remediation Program. His career has focused on the monitoring, remediation, and due diligence for environmental contamination. Driven by his lifelong passion for cycling and trails, he has channeled his work experience to help a number of projects seeking to convert former industrial corridors into recreational trails. He currently serves as the LRS helping Friends of the Cheat to develop the Cadel to Manheim section of the Cheat River Trail. He also offers specialized services such as expert testimony, litigation support, and expert report preparation.
In addition to his career credentials, Marc has decades of experience as an accomplished cyclist and trail builder. Mr. Glass has nearly 30 years of experience in mountain biking, cyclocross, road, and gravel racing. He consistently placed in the top 10 in the pro-expert category for mountain bike races for decades and earned some notable victories.
In recent years, Marc spearheaded the creation of the Westover Park Loop Trail, which is now the top beginner mountain bike trail in the greater Morgantown area. Marc developed the initial concept for the trail and helped the City of Westover secure funding from the West Virginia Division of Highways Recreational Trails Program in 2014. He helped the City bid out and select a contractor (Appalachian Dirt Trails and Services) for construction in 2017 and organized volunteer crews to conduct additional trail work. The Westover Park Loop Trail officially opened in 2019 and has become the greater Morgantown cycling community’s main venue for beginner, family-friendly mountain bike trails.
Mr. Glass earned a B.S. in Environmental Sciences and completed graduate studies in Soil Science at West Virginia University and is based in Morgantown. He is registered for the 2022 PTBA Sustainable Trails Conference.
