Nick Bowman

Qualification:

Bachelor of Applied Science in Conservation and Park Management (1998), University of SA

Nick has worked in a professional capacity to develop sustainable recreational trails since January 2002. This includes experience in all levels of negotiation and planning, from the shovel to the boardroom. The majority of this work was based on implementing the State MTB Plan for South Australia which was released in 2001. This work was conducted while working for Bicycle SA, Greening Australia and the City of Mitcham, but also as a private contractor.

Through this work Nick played a key role in the initiation and development of Eagle Mountain Bike Park, Fox Creek MTB Trails (Cudlee Creek Forest) and the Mitcham City Council shared use trail network in the Adelaide Hills region.

More recently Nick was instrumental in establishing and then managing the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) as National Director in Australia. Essentially, IMBA Australia was acting as the Trails Branch of Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA) whereby Nick, over the course of 5 years, facilitated significant benefits to mountain bike riders and land managers across the country. Since then Nick has been back in his natural habitat designing and building trails, including working with World Trail to help create sweet trails in Atherton (Qld) and Derby (Blue Derby, Tas).

Now Nick has launched his own brand for trail consultancy, design and construction. Destination Trails Pty Ltd. As a dedicated disciple of the IMBA trail development model and trail difficulty ratings, Nick is still keen to use this knowledge and passion to promote quality trails and unique experiences down under!
